Publisher Description
This simulator will give you a realistic experience of what it's like to handle a large ship. It includes some features which often seem to be missing in other simulators:
- Astern effect of the propeller
- Drift during turn
- Pivot point movement
- Rudder effectiveness based on propeller flow and ship's own velocity
- Bow thruster effectiveness influenced by ship's velocity
For the moment there are three ships (cargo ship, supply ship and battle ship). In the future more may be added.
The game is played in a sandbox style with a sea, river and port environment and customisable current. I plan to also add wind effect.
The simulation is based on the mathematical hydrodynamic MMG model which is also used in professional ship handling and mooring simulators.
Version History - All-new low-speed professional MMG handling model based on new research (Taniguchi & Maki, 2025) for even more realistic harbour manoeuvring, proper drift, propeller "walk", pivot point movement and rudder/propeller behaviour.
- Added tug assistance: control the tugs in lateral (push/pull) or longitudinal (bow/stern tug) mode to help you berth and unberth (available only on the Cargo Ship for now).
- Improved wind model
- Various handling and stability refinements.
- Fixed timescale button 0.24 Jun 20 - All-new low-speed professional MMG handling model based on new research (Taniguchi & Maki, 2025) for even more realistic harbour manoeuvring, proper drift, propeller "walk", pivot point movement and rudder/propeller behaviour.

- Improved wind model
- Various handling and stability refinements. 0.22 Jun 19 - Added wind effect (experimental). You can adjust wind direction and force in the settings menu ("Restart / Change ship"). The wind generates a turning moment towards it and a displacement force away from it. Both of these effects are influenced by the shape of the ship's superstructure.
- Increased UI buttons sensitivity for improved usability on small screens 0.18 08/25/2024 - Better collision detection
- Improvements to NPC ships: more NPC ships + improved NPC autopilots. They will run down the river sticking to their SB side as much as possible. You can switch the NPC ships on or off from the Settings/Ships menu.
- Performance improvements for weaker devices 0.14 02/05/2024 - Added a large cruise ship. It's a big vessel but very manoeuvrable thanks to twin props and a powerful bow thruster
- You can now change the sky lighting to dawn, day or dusk. It's in the settings under "Graphics"
- Changed the damage system so that now a ship will sink only after a certain amount of damage was done. On the top right the amount of damage (if any) is shown in $ 0.13 02/02/2024 - Added large containership to controllable ships
- Reduced force of lateral thrust when engine running astern
- Reduced bow thruster force
- Increased water resistance when moving astern
- Added heel effect when turning at high speed
- Added buttons for centering the controls
- Menu changes
- Added start screen 0.11 01/25/2024 - Added bulk carrier ship (empty and loaded). You can select it from the "Restart" menu
- As you would expect, the loaded bulk carrier has much higher inertia than the empty one
- Added benchmarking that auto adjusts graphics quality at app start. 0.10 01/16/2024 - The river now has current. You can adjust the force and direction (ebb or flood) in the "settings" menu, under "Restart".
- Added a river jetty to moor to.
- Increased the damage threshold for the ship to sink. 0.6 01/14/2024 0.5 01/10/2024
